This morning, Ken felt Aubrey move for the first time. :) He was so excited! Seems Aubrey might be a morning person because I feel her for about an hour when I first wake up, and then very little movement the rest of the day. I have no idea how Ken and I could create a MORNING person! Although, we're not necessarily night owls, either. We're sleepers. :) Loooove sleep.
Tomorrow is the first day of school. I'm in a portable building that is too small, but I can make-do for just 4 hours a day. I'm looking forward to teaching Kodaly! Kodaly is a methodology of teaching music that focuses on music literacy built on hearing. I received my Kodaly certification in 2002 after 3 summers of coursework at Texas State. The problem is, I've never taught at a school that had a Kodaly foundation, so I've had to start with kindergarten and haven't stuck with one school long enough to get much further. Well, the school I'm now at was previously under the direction of Patty Moreno, who happens to be the director of the Kodaly Certification Program at Texas State (and is incidentally the one who told the school they needed to seek me out) so the kids have a fantastic Kodaly background. Tomorrow, I plan on starting the first day of school by reviewing sixteenth notes with my 3rd graders, and sixteenth-eighth note combos with my 4th and 5th graders. Any of you who know music know that these concepts are quite impressive for these age groups. :) I'm a little nervous! Hope I live up to their expectations.
After a nice long break, wedding season is now back in full swing. Starting with our wedding last night, we're booked just about every weekend through the beginning of November. My last wedding before maternity leave is November 3rd.
That's all for now - time for sleep. :)
While rolling through town…
